Awards for excellence

DANDENONG’S outstanding manufacturers are invited to nominate for the 2011 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame.
Manufacturing, Exports and Trade Minister Richard Dalla-Riva said the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame celebrated the groundbreaking achievements of Victoria’s manufacturing sector.
“The 2011 Awards will again recognise an industry-nominated young manufacturer and lifetime achievements by individuals,” he said.
“The 2011 Awards also include two new categories for entrepreneurial excellence by a company and a young manufacturer working with enabling technologies for manufacturing such as information and communication technology, nano and micro technology and biotechnology.”
Small, medium and large manufacturers are all eligible and nominations can be made by industry associations or individual companies.
Nominations for the 2011 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame close on 28 February and inductees will be announced at the Hall of Fame Awards night to be held on 26 May during National Manufacturing Week.
As Australia’s only Manufacturing Minister, Mr Dalla-Riva said the State Government was determined to return Victoria as the nation’s premier manufacturing state because of its commitment to increase new manufacturing output, exports and employment.
“Victorian manufacturing accounts for over $30 billion in gross state product, employs over 300,000 people and at the aggregate level, is the state’s lead export sector” he said.
“It’s very important that we acknowledge this contribution and set benchmarks for excellence through the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame.”
Since 2001, 106 companies, 22 honour roll recipients and seven outstanding young manufacturers have been inducted into the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame.
These award winners represent the depth and capability of Victoria’s manufacturing sector working in areas such as aeronautics, automotive, telecommunications, printing, textiles, scientific instruments, health, packaging, marine, recycling and food.
