Bat attack

TWO Dandenong men were assaulted by a gang with a baseball bat in Dandenong early Friday morning.
Detectives from Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit said two men, aged 26 and 25, were walking along King Street towards Stud Road at 12.30am after late night grocery shopping when they were approached by four men.
One of the men struck the 25-year-old in the head with the baseball bat even as the two men tried to flee.
The 26-year-old stumbled and fell to the ground and as he lay on the ground, the men hit him across the head with the bat.
The two men escaped and raised the alarm at Dandenong Hospital.
Detectives said a short time after the assault witnesses saw a grey Toyota Yaris with four males on board return to the spot of the assault and steal items from the discarded shopping bags.
Detectives believe it was the same group of men.
Three of the attackers were described as being of Asian appearance and wearing dark clothing while the man with the baseball bat was described as being of African appearance and wearing a balaclava.
Detectives are seeking witnesses and urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
