Rangers claim three out of four

By JARROD POTTER
DANDENONG Rangers claimed three wins from their four matches across the weekend, with the women claiming two victories to put them a game clear at the top of the SEABL East Conference.
The women made light work of Frankston on Thursday night, smashing home a 68-50 win, with the Rangers securing the win in the third quarter, with a 21-8 term.
Wayward shooting in the last quarter stopped it from being an even bigger blowout as Dandenong shot 4/14 from the field.
Clare Papavs (19 points, six rebounds) stepped up in Steph Cumming’s absence and received good support from Hope Terdich (14- 10) and Amelia Todhunter (14 – 8).
Flying up to the sunshine state for Saturday’s match against Brisbane, the Rangers made it a memorable trip with a 74-54 win over the Spartans.
Sharing the minutes around, from only 25 minutes on court, Aimie Clydesdale (14 points) led the way for the Rangers, with Papavs, Terdich, Todhunter and Faith Probst all posting double figure scores.
The Rangers men struggled on Thursday night, downed 74-85 to Frankston. Tony Lewis (22 -9) and Daequon Montreal (19) burdened most of the workload for the Rangers, who couldn’t get past gun Blues trio Chuck Long (32 points), Mitch Chapman (24) and Calvin Henry (15 – 15).
Dandenong squeaked home against Brisbane 76-73, with Andrew Harms (18) and Montreal (16) leading the charge. The men sit a game behind Geelong Supercats in the SEABL East Conference.
The Rangers are back at home this Saturday as they take on Albury-Wodonga. Tip off for the women’s game is at 5.30pm.
