DANDENONG one day and the World Trade Organization in Switzerland the next.
Dorotea Horina, a local university student, is one of only six students Australia-wide to be sponsored to attend Global Voices WTO Australian Youth Delegation in Switzerland this month.
Ms Horina said she would be a proud Dandenong citizen when she heads off on her overseas adventure this weekend.
“It is a one in a life time opportunity,” she said.
“Attending this forum will allow me to put my skills and knowledge of international trade into practice.
“It is a massive value-add to my studies and the opportunity to speak up about what I have been learning about.”
Ms Horina is a fourth-year student studying International Business and Japanese language at Swinburne University of Technology.
She has recently completed an internship with Nissan Motor Co. Australia Headquarters in Dandenong and currently works at Consulcad Project Consultancy Services.
Mr Horina and the five other lucky students first met during a trip to Canberra, where they met with many parliamentarians and the Ambassador of Switzerland Marcel Stutz.
She is also completing a Research Fellowship with Global Voices as part of the experience, which will include the production of a paper on an aspect related to multilateral trade to be published by Global Voices.
The WTO Public Forum is a major event where governments, non-governmental organisations, academics, businesses and students can come together to discuss the latest issues regarding the multilateral trading system.
