ANOTHER Ranger has signed elsewhere ahead of the 2013/14 WNBL season – with young forward Sara Blicavs signing on to join the premiers.
Blicavs, 20, will join the reigning champions – Bendigo Spirit – for the upcoming season, leaving Dandenong after only one year in the Rangers’ green and gold.
Bendigo Spirit head coach Bernie Harrower said on the WNBL website the 188cm Blicavs would add further size, speed, scoring and versatility to the Spirit roster.
“Sara is a talented player and we’re looking forward to working with her to both make a contribution to the success of the Spirit, but also to work on her game to continue developing at the senior level,” Harrower said.
“Sara can fill a role as a big guard or forward and with her ability to score in various ways, she’ll add a new dimension to our team.”
“After a full year playing in a senior team at WNBL level last season and averaging seven points and four rebounds a game, we’re confident that Sara can go from strength to strength and be a great contributor with the Spirit.”
Blicavs joins Steph Cumming (Townsville Fire) as departing Rangers from the 2012/13 team that lost the WNBL preliminary final to Townsville 64-78.
