Rangers meet Thunder in curtain-raiser

By JARROD POTTER

A TOUGH Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) fixture has been allocated to the Dandenong Rangers – with six double-headers across the season.
The season starts on Saturday 5 October with Dandenong hosting the Logan Thunder.
With the introduction of the Melbourne Boomers, formerly Bulleen, now shifted to the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna, the new local rivalry will tip off at the brand new basketball facility on Friday 25 October.
Dandenong has announced the return of star guard Jenna O’Hea, Alison Downie, Aimie Clydesdale, Lauren Scherf and after a year-off with injury, Clare Papavs.
New to the Rangers this season will be WNBA-calibre imports Kayla Pederson and Natalie Novosel, Australian Opals representative Alice Kunek and former Canberra forward Brigitte Ardossi.
In other Rangers news, Dandenong’s captain, All-Star guard, Olympian and MVP Kathleen Macleod has announced she is pregnant with her first child and is expecting in January 2014.
