A NEW production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute will premiere at the Drum Theatre next month.
There’ll be a live chamber orchestra and a cast of Australia’s leading singers.
The Magic Flute is a quest for wisdom and true love and this new adaption takes inspiration from the movies and is set in 1930s Egypt.

Fashion workshop
VISITORS can learn how to create modern and unique looks with scarves and hijabs at an exciting workshop as part of Refugee Week.
The workshop is a partnership between the Springvale Learning and Activities Centre and Madina Fashion.

Celebrate refugees
REFUGEE Week celebrations in Dandenong for 12 to 25-year-olds will include storytelling and a dance party.
From 4.30pm to 6.30pm, young people and their families will be invited to share their experiences and Melbourne Playback Theatre Company will develop these into short skits.
From 7pm to 11.30pm, the Ballistik Dance Party will feature DJs playing hip hop, dance and Afghan music, dance crews, rappers, competitions and prizes.

Cemetery tour
FRIENDS of Dandenong Cemeteries lead people through the Dandenong Community Cemetery to discover the final resting places of many Dandenong pioneers.

Author talk
SCREENWRITER John Richards will share secrets to his success with the critically-acclaimed ABC comedy series Outland at this free event.
John and comedian Adam Richard wrote a pilot script about a gay science fiction fan club in 2005 that the ABC and SBS rejected.
He decided to film it in his lounge room on a budget of just $500.
It screened around the world at a number of film festivals before catching the eye of the ABC, which agreed to turn it into a sitcom.
