Scout leader stabbed in raid

By Casey Neill

A would-be thief stabbed, punched and kicked a female Scout leader who was alone in the Noble Park Scout Hall, police allege.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Dean Hayes said a man entered the hall about 8pm on Monday 15 May while the 48-year-old victim was cleaning up.
He said the man punched and kicked her, tried to force her into an office, and produced a knife.
“As a result of the altercation she received two stab wounds to the upper arm,” Det Act Sen Sgt Hayes said.
“She fought him off, locked herself in the office and called her husband, who called police.”
The alleged attacker ran from the scene empty-handed.
The victim was taken to Monash Hospital and was released the following day.
Police arrested a 30-year-old Noble Park man on Tuesday and charged him with aggravated burglary with a weapon, intentionally causing injury, common law kidnapping and other assault-related charges.
He was refused bail at a filing hearing at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 17 May.
He was further remanded to reappear for a committal case conference and committal on Wednesday 9 August.
