Rotten round trip

By JARROD POTTER

TRAVELLING to Bendigo from the south eastern suburbs is painful enough – bringing home a 65-point thumping makes it downright insufferable.
There’s no nice way of tarting up Dandenong’s capitulation against Geelong – the Stingrays were outgunned in all recognisable facets of gameplay.
Three goals after half-time proved the sum and total of Dandenong’s achievement as Geelong ran in 10 goals to resoundingly blast the Stingrays into oblivion.
Dandenong coach Graeme Yeats found very few positives from the match, declaring the team’s collective effort miles off a winning standard.
“I think there were a couple of positives in personnel – we’re really rapt with Tom Lamb and Zac Jones, who are under-age players, as they were the only standouts for us,” Yeats said.
“I couldn’t really say a lot for the rest.
“I don’t think we can play much worse – we were pretty dysfunctional and we had our pants pulled down by a better team.
“To their credit, the opposition was very good and we’ll have to improve a lot to bridge the gap as on the weekend – we couldn’t defend our areas, the backs really struggled and we couldn’t put on any pressure.
Dandenong is languishing in ninth and has a weekend off before a round five clash against the Western Jets on 27 April.
