Graffiti wipe-out

A CITY-WIDE graffiti blitz and follow-up maintenance is included in this year’s City of Greater Dandenong draft budget.
In endorsing the financial plan on Monday night (13 May) councillors agreed to spend $1,087,000 on contract graffiti removal and adopt a proactive approach to preventing graffiti.
This will include a one-off graffiti clean-up.
In February, councillor Sean O’Reilly urged the council to investigate ways to improve the overall cleanliness of residential streets – in particular, tackling graffiti.
He said one of the main things residents raised with him during his election campaign was the cleanliness of their environment.
“It pertains to people’s pride in where they live. It pertains to attracting people to shop here,” he said.
Cr O’Reilly is urging residents to use a free app to report issues and provide feedback to the council, called Snap Send Solve.
Snap Send Solve uses a phone’s GPS location to determine the relevant council and provide contact details.
It also helps to capture images to report common problems relating to litter, hard waste, parking, street cleaning, trees and noise.
