Skills are spread wide

GREATER Dandenong took home three awards at Victorian manufacturing’s night of nights, but the region has cause to lay claim to a few other successes.
BOC was among the inductees, and last year opened a $65 million liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Dandenong.
This greatly enhanced the security of low-emissions fuel for the heavy transport sector.
LNG produces up to 20 per cent less greenhouse gas emissions when compared with diesel.
A well as leading the sector in LNG production, BOC is a key player in supplying and distributing LNG in Victoria.
It’s a member of The Linde Group, which supplies compressed and bulk gases, chemicals and equipment around the world, and has eight Victorian locations.
The company develops safe, sustainable and innovative solutions for customers in many sectors including metal production processes, petroleum refining, chemical processing, environmental protection, wastewater treatment, welding and cutting processes, food processing and distribution, glass and paper production, electronics and healthcare.
Australian Defence Apparel (ADA) was another inductee and has a warehouse in Dandenong.
It offers design, manufacture and complex inventory management for uniforms and related products to large corporations in Australia and around the globe.
It specialises in products ranging from combat and non-combat uniforms, structural fire fighting clothing and hard and soft personal body armour to clever online management systems designed to handle the most complex delivery requirements.
Just up the road from Dandenong’s manufacturing heartland is Technology in Manufacturing Award-winner Universal Biosensors (UBI).
The Rowville company is a medical diagnostics company focused on the research, development and manufacture of diagnostic test systems for point-of-care professional and home use.
