Cyclist dies following accident

A BANGHOLME cyclist, 80, has died following a collision with a truck late last month.
Greater Dandenong Highway Patrol Acting Senior Sergeant Brendan Michael is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident on Frankston-Dandenong Road in Bangholme to come forward.
“We want them to help us get an accurate picture of what happened,” he said.
Act Sen Sgt Michael said a truck travelling north sideswiped the man as he rode in the same direction, about 9.50am on Friday 31 January.
He was taken to The Alfred hospital but died last Wednesday night.
He said the truck driver, a 37-year-old Carrum Downs man, had swerved to try to avoid the cyclist and stopped to render assistance following the collision.
Call Greater Dandenong Highway Patrol Senior Constable Andrew Cusworth at Springvale Police Station on 8558 8600.
