WALLARA’S annual golf day has raised $50,000 for its Wish Foundation.
The event, which was held at Keysborough Golf Club on 24 October, will help the disability support service provide one-off grants for special equipment or experiences to improve their quality of life.
More than 500 people attended Wallara’s annual concert at the Frankston Arts Centre on 19 October.
The event celebrated people with different abilities and included a performance from Wallara ambassador Emmanuel Kelly and the Wallara-Auslan Sing and Sign Choir.
Wallara partnered with Cranbourne Secondary College students in a Crewalla Dance Collaboration performance.
“The students, as part of their VCE curriculum, have to choreograph a dance routine that includes 12 of our people and celebrates their abilities,” Wallara CEO Phil Hayes-Brown said.
“Steps and movements have been thought out to incorporate our people’s unconscious movements in a flowing dance form.”
Wallara presented Rebecca Van Able with its Employee of the Year Award and Suzanne Hijazin received the Simon Haigh Supported Employee of the Year Award.
Picture This art competition winners were announced as Dandenong High School’s Joanne Sayasane and Mitch Dyall from Mount Erin College.
The winning images encouraged thought about social inclusion and will appear on two Wallara buses.
