Plan gets bad prognosis

A PROPOSED Noble Park medical centre has been rejected by Greater Dandenong Council due to parking shortage concerns.
Plans for the centre, which propose five health providers during weekdays at 15-35 Frank Street, does not include on-site parking.
The council estimates it will reduce available parking by 17 spaces – causing safety, amenity and “undue detriment”.
Last Monday, councillor Roz Blades successfully passed a motion for the council to perform a traffic and parking study of surrounding streets.

Less lookout
A PLANNED three-storey apartment building in Dandenong has been amended to appease objector concerns about over-looking neighbouring properties.
Under an alternative motion by Cr Matthew Kirwan on Monday, the courtyards, windows and balconies would be further restricted on the 18-unit building at 22 Hemmings Street. Objectors were also concerned about possible car parking shortages.

Security service
GREATER Dandenong Council has renewed its security and electronic alarm contractor despite queries about value for money.
EBN Protective Services was awarded a three-and-a-half year contract despite its tender bid being undercut by rival Coastcom.
According to a report last week, the council had a “major concern“ with Coastcom’s proposed service – a drive-by patrol without the driver alighting from the vehicle.
It also offered 40 per cent less patrol time than EBN.
