TATTERSON Park could be on the chopping block to make a Keysborough South primary school a reality.
City of Greater Dandenong councillor said at the 11 May council meeting that there were only three land parcels big enough to accommodate the in-demand facility.
Two were in private hands and the 52-hectare Tatterson Park was the third.
Cr Brown said selling three hectares to the State Government for the school could be an option.
His comments were regarding a report about how the City of Greater Dandenong should assist residents petitioning for the school – with the suburb fast filling, with several thousand homes but no government school.
Councillors voted to meet with the State Education Minister to push for the school and consider launching a high-profile advocacy campaign if it does not receive an adequate response.
Keysborough South Action Group spokeswoman Nina Kelly said it had more than 800 signatures on a petition it would present to Keysborough MP Martin Pakula at a meeting mid-next month.
“Keysborough South Action Group is pleased that the motion was a success,” she said.
“It is the start of a long journey ahead.”
