A DANDENONG man was punched in the mouth and chased through the streets during an attempted robbery.
The 37-year-old victim was walking on Robinson Street, Dandenong, about 9.40pm on Thursday 14 April and stopped at a bus stop to speak to a friend.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Nic Hayes said the man saw two men and a woman approaching from Mason Street as he continued his walk.
The would-be thieves approached him, demanded money, and punched him in the mouth when he said he didn’t have any.
They made further demands for cash and the victim’s phone before he fled to Scott Street.
Sen Const Hayes said they gave chase but the victim escaped.
The victim described one man as short and stocky with an Australian appearance wearing a white Billabong singlet, a black T-shirt on his head like a bandana, long blue shorts and runners.
The second man was 183 centimetres tall with olive skin, dark hair, a moustache and a goatee, and was wearing blue jeans, a dark jumper and runners.
The victim said the woman was Caucasian, about 165cm tall and aged in her late 40s to early 50s with reddish blonde hair. She was wearing a long, light pink dress.
