Dandenong police are renewing an appeal for information about an armed carjacking.
The stolen 2014 Mercedes CLA 250 was recovered outside a Narre Warren address two days after the Wednesday 25 May incident in Toorak.
Investigators from Taskforce Tense, now known as Southern Metropolitan Regional Crime Team, are yet to make an arrest.
The crew was set up to tackle Apex gang-branded burglaries and car thefts.
The victim, 29, was driving west on Toorak Road about 2am when another vehicle, possibly a grey Nissan, collided with the car.
He pulled over 200 metres east of Orrong Road and exited the Mercedes.
Six men, described as African and Islander in appearance, approached and demanded the victim’s phone, striking him to the head with a baseball bat and stealing his car.
He was taken to The Alfred hospital with some minor bleeding.
Witnesses and anyone who saw the Mercedes after the incident or with information about the Nissan should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
