Auto supply chain moves on

The opportunities and challenges in manufacturing will be the key theme for a Dandenong forum.
The Transforming Manufacturing Industry Forum will take place at the Drum Theatre on Tuesday 12 September.
The free event will demonstrate how automotive supply chain businesses are transitioning into new industry sectors like rail, defence, specialty vehicle manufacturing, building and construction, as well as embracing global market opportunities.
Speakers will also highlight new opportunities for the automotive sector through new business models, innovation and diversification.
There’ll be a morning of case study presentations followed by an afternoon of workshops on future trends in manufacturing.
Registration starts at 8.30am and the event concludes at 5.30pm following a networking function.
Industry and Employment Minister Wade Noonan will provide the opening address, followed by speeches from Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams and Greater Dandenong Mayor Jim Memeti.
Morning speakers will include Robert Bosch Australia president Gavin Smith, Nissan Casting Australia managing director Peter Jones, Holden Special Vehicles managing director Tim Jackson, Nitto Denko Australia managing director Michael Finn, MtM managing director Mark Albert, Venture DMG CEO Dean Lomas and Prodrive Racing Australia CEO Rod Nash.
There’ll be question and answer panel sessions with these speakers.
South East Melbourne Manufacturers Alliance (SEMMA) executive officer Adrian Boden will launch the afternoon sessions, which will feature speakers from CSIRO, Swinburne, Industry Capability Network (Victoria) and more.
