Police are investigating an attempted theft of motor car and assault in Dandenong on Friday, 22 September.
Investigators have been told a man noticed two other men in the front yard of his Charles Street home about 11.20am and confronted the pair, who demanded the keys to his car.
The victim refused before one of the men approached him with a Stanley knife and attempted to get into the house. The victim sustained injuries in an attempt to stop the man, and was taken to hospital with minor stab wounds.
The two men are believed to have fled on foot east along Charles Street.
Both were wearing hoodies covering their faces. No items were taken.
