Premier Daniel Andrews stepped out in Dandenong to check on the Lyndale Secondary College rebuild.
He joined Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams to assess progress on the $13 million upgrade on Friday 3 November.
The school hadn’t received any significant funding since the 1960s when the State Government committed the cash over two recent budgets.
“Lyndale Secondary have been calling for this redevelopment since 2010,” Ms Williams said.
The $7 million first stage is now well underway, which includes a science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) centre.
It will also convert the existing hall into a performing arts centre with a cafe/canteen and a food tech space.
The $6 million second stage will include a new library and IT wing.
The school administration centre will be relocated as part of the project.
“The Dandenong community deserves first-class education infrastructure,” Ms Williams said.
