Wall is not so great

Keysborough residents are calling for a meeting to clear up concerns about a new wall.
Greater Dandenong Council accepted a letter signed by 37 residents of Clarendon Drive, in the Somerfield estate, at its Monday 27 November meeting.
The letter said the signatories were “extremely unhappy about this massive wall that has gone up behind us” as part of a new factory.
They asked for a meeting with the council to ask questions.
“No consultation or mention was given to the Clarendon Drive residents before the factory was constructed or no mention of wall proposal either,” author Jacqui said.
“It was just built … we were not given the chance to object against any proposal or plans.”
The letter said that now the structure had been erected, residents wanted it “covered properly with trees” and a say on what trees would be planted.
“We are also concerned about the redundant road, behind the wall,” it said.
“Residents want to make sure this will not turn into another access road behind the massive wall for industrial access.”
The letter said residents were worried about pollution from the factory and from trucks “if this is turned into an access road for the factory”.
The letter was referred to the council’s engineering team for consideration.
