Man dies after assault outside service station

A man has died following an assault on the nature strip outside a service station.

Police were called to the BP service station at Dandenong, about 4.50am after reports a man had been assaulted.

Paramedics treated the man, who is yet to be identified, but he died at the scene.

Sections of the service station have been cordoned off with police tape, and an SES tent has been set up on the nature strip, where the man’s body remains.

Police said the exact circumstances surrounding the man’s death are yet to be established.

It comes just months after a woman fought off a group of teenagers during an attempted carjacking at the same service station in May.
