A $200,000 jump-start

By Cameron Lucadou-Wells

CASEY Council will consider funding defibrillators at each of its 88 sports pavilions at a possible cost of about $200,000.

Casey sport and leisure manager Richard Amon said the aim was to provide immediate first aid for any players who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. It will be voted upon by councillors at a future council meeting, he said.

Greater Dandenong Council has installed defibrillators at Dandenong Oasis, Dandenong Stadium, Springers Leisure Centre and Noble Park Aquatic Centre.

“The council is investigating how defibrillators can be implemented in other council-owned sports facilities, in partnership with local sports clubs,” Greater Dandenong community services director Mark Doubleday said.
