India’s ‘hugging saint’ Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, or ‘Amma’ to her followers, was at Springvale’s Sandown racecourse last Friday as part of her Australian tour. Amma (which translates to ‘mother’) spreads her love by hugging others. The 58-year-old Hindu guru has amassed more than 30 million hugs and sometimes does so uninterrupted for 20 hours. Her final Melbourne appearance is on today (Monday) at Sandown racecourse at 7pm and entry is free. Picture: Lucy Di Paolo
