DDCA: Ridges appoints captain-coach

Buckley Ridges Cricket Club has appointed former New Zealand first class cricketer Marc Calkin as captain-coach for next season.

The 32-year-old former Wellington and Central Districts batsman will lead the Ridges into the next Dandenong District Cricket Association turf 1 season.

Last season’s captain D J Watson has stood aside to allow Calkin to take on both roles. Calkin, who is playing with Nightcliff in the Darwin and District Cricket Association, will move to Melbourne once that season is completed. C

alkin is a good mate of Ridges bowler Jeremy Kuru and is expected to fill a top-order batting position and bowl some medium pace. Paul Rudd has been named second XI captain.
