EFL: Bulls skipper out injured

By ROY WARD

NOBLE Park captain Craig Anderson could miss the rest of the Eastern Football League division 1 season.

Anderson is expected to have shoulder surgery this week and the 2011 EFL division 1 best and fairest winner and two-time premiership star may not be fit in time to take the field again this season.

Bulls coach Mick Fogarty said Anderson’s fate rested with the outcome of the arthroscopic surgery.

“I think he could miss the year,” Fogarty said. “He has got to have surgery and when he gets it fixed up he may not be able to play again this year. But it pretty much rests on the outcome of the operation. Until then, we won’t know for sure.”

The Bulls originally thought Anderson’s injury was only minor and he would rest for a few weeks, possibly until after the Queen’s birthday weekend, as he was also carrying a few other leg injuries.

“We thought he would be right until he got the scans, because when they came back the findings weren’t very complimentary,” Fogarty said. “There was a lot more damage than we thought but he still has a chance to come back because it’s arthroscopic surgery.”

Fogarty made it clear that if anyone could return from such surgery this season, it would be Anderson. “Absolutely; he will do everything right with his rehabilitation and give himself the best chance. Don’t rule him out.”
