A teenage girl escaped possible abduction last Tuesday as she walked near her Dandenong school.
Dandenong police said today the man approached the girl about 7.15am as she walked on Macpherson Street, metres from St John’s Regional College.
He got out of a late-1990s white Toyota sedan and had a short conversation with the student, asking her where she was going.
The man followed her as she walked away quickly. He tried to grab her from behind but missed, then made threatening remarks.
Detective Shane Pola of Greater Dandenong crime investigation unit said police regard the incident as an attempted abduction.
The teenager has said she didn’t know the man.
He is described as tall, aged 20-30, with dark skin and possibly of Anglo-Indian descent. He had black hair and a goatee, and wore a black-hooded jumper and black tracksuit pants with two white stripes.
Anyone with information about the incident can call Crime Stoppers, 1800 333 000.
