NOBLE Park reserves will need to make the Eastern Football League division 1 reserves grand final the long way after losing to undefeated Vermont in the major semi-final on Saturday.
The Eagles flew out to a four-goal lead in the opening term at Bayswater Oval and held on despite a final term fightback from the Bulls, who eventually lost by nine points.
Chris Horton-Milne, Nathan Carver, Trent Robertson and Mladen Josic were the Bulls’ best players.
Bulls coach Benn Logan said his side had paid the price for a poor first term but had improved once again against the Eagles.
“Apart from that first quarter we were in the game,” he said.
“Playing them in the last round we lost by 10 points, then we lost by nine points this time. The pressure is on them to remain undefeated in the grand final.”
Logan said his side also had to improve on its discipline after giving away some damaging free kicks against the Eagles.
“Our attitude has to be different. We gave away too many free kicks and if our discipline is better we should convert that into a better result.”
Logan said he had major selection headaches heading into the preliminary final with a number of players available after the Bulls seniors were eliminated from the finals last Sunday week with a loss to Balwyn.
The Bulls will play Knox Falcons in the preliminary final at Bayswater Oval this Saturday after the Falcons beat East Ringwood yesterday.
