DDCA: Dandenong North collapses to Hallam attack

By BRAD MCGRATH

HALLAM Kalora Park captain-coach Johan Vorster has praised his “ruthless” outfit after it dismantled Dandenong North in their Dandenong District Cricket Association clash at Hallam Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

After compiling 9-334 in the opening week, the Hawks were in the box seat for victory but it was hard to predict just how dominant they would be as they heartlessly dismissed Dandenong North for 51.

Leigh Booth, after his century with the bat, was the chief wicket taker with 3-0 from four overs while Vorster (2-16) and Lee Brown (2-4) were equally effective on a pitch offering plenty of assistance.

“We were hammering it — we were pretty ruthless I tell you,” he said. “We exploited the conditions to our favour and our bowlers’ execution was spot on and the playing conditions helped us. The opposition didn’t apply themselves well considering the target they were chasing.”

Dandenong North steadied in its second innings to finish the clash at 4-127 and stave off the possibility of outright defeat.
