HUNDREDS of locals turned out to Australia Day festivities around Greater Dandenong on Saturday.

Craig
Hancock was named citizen of the year, Afghan refugee Sahema Saberi was
named young achiever of the year, young achiever Guillaume Nyakaboyi
received a highly commended award, Dawn Vernon was named the good
neighbour of the year, Graham Don took out the non-resident of the year
award.

Dandenong Park was the scene of community celebrations including a performance by the Jindi Worabak Dance troupe.
