MENTAL Health will be given the equivalent of a celebrity makeover in Greater Dandenong when a host of stars come to town for the ERMHA and MIDDWAY Community Festival and Walk for Mental Health next Wednesday, 11 October.
Residents will be able to join marathon swimmer Tammy Van Wisse, comedian Peter Rowsthorn, Monash Medical School associate professor Neil Cole and author Jo Buchanan on the walk.
Political parties The Greens and People Power will also join the awareness-raising walk from Dandenong Park to Dandenong Market.
The route for the MIDDWAY Walk for Mental Health will start from Dandenong Park, cross Foster Street and proceed along Pultney Street towards the Drum Theatre. The parade of people will then turn right into Walker Street and proceed towards the Palm Plaza Mall, then turn left and walk down the Palm Plaza.
Tumbarumba Drummers and Dancers will perform during the Palm Plaza visit before the parade walks to Dandenong Market where a mass of balloons will be released into the air to kick off the festival.
Speakers will include Peter Rowsthorn from Kath and Kim and Thank God You’re Here as master of ceremonies for the day. Marathon swimmer Tammy Van Wisse, City of Greater Dandenong mayor Peter Brown, Mulgrave MP and Parliamentary Secretary for Health Daniel Andrews and author Jo Buchanan will speak at Dandenong Park.
Greens candidate Colleen Hartland, People Power candidate Kali Paxinos, Carer Respite service development program manager Lindy Alcorn and ERMHA CEO Peter Waters will speak at Dandenong Market.
