Cougars’ woes continue

By JARROD POTTER

KEYBSOROUGH’S season of promise went from bad to worse on the weekend, taking a six-point loss in its return fixture against Melton.
Mirroring their 87-83 win over the Thoroughbreds in round one, the Cougars left too much work until the last quarter in the 87-93 loss – posting a monstrous 35 points with 14/25 from the field getting in.
As great as the final term points spree was, Keysborough’s third quarter was equivalently as inept – shooting 3/14 and failing to gain any ascendency.
The Cougars’ workload was shared evenly, as coach Nathan Vogt got significant contributions up and down the roster – including a double-double from Tim Brook (14 points, 12 rebounds) and some strong shooting from Nathaniel O’Hara (16 points) and Alistair Granger (13 points).
Kevin Benn returned to post 14 points and eight rebounds from only 22 minutes court-time.
Keysborough fell to eight with the loss – stuck in the logjam from sixth downwards on a 4-6 record.
The Cougars return home this weekend to face second-placed Keilor Thunder from 7pm at Springers Leisure Centre.
