Two handmade bombs were discovered by police in a Springvale South unit after a routine vehicle intercept last Saturday week. Detective Senior Constable Alistair Boyd of Greater Dandenong crime investigation unit said police searched a Springvale South home after a small amount of methamphetamine — or ‘ice’ — was found in the intercepted car on Dandenong Bypass about 2am. One of the bombs contained nails and had the potential to cause a “significant injury”, Detective Boyd said. The other emitted smoke. The police bomb response unit detonated the devices in the home’s backyard. Police say cannabis, ‘ice’ and cash were also discovered at the home. A 31-year-old Springvale South man was charged with possessing explosive devices, conduct endangering people, and trafficking and possession of drugs.
