Greater Dandenong Council has received a further $500,000 in state funding for its $62 million Federation Square project in central Dandenong.

The Community Benefit Fund grant comes on top of a $6 million federal grant announced last month.

Chief executive John Bennie was optimistic that the council would also receive $750,000 of Living Libraries state funding for the project, which includes a library, civic centre, cafes, retail and a public big-screen. He did not rule out a reduction in the $47 million of loans budgeted for the project.
