CROWDS thronged the Dandenong Market yesterday for a feast at the Dandenong World Fare.
Exotic foods from around the world were on offer at stalls laden with savoury and sweet treats, especially the African and Afghan dishes that Dandenong is renowned for.
Marketgoers enjoyed numerous cooking demonstrations and performances of all kinds. There was a gypsy troupe, musicians and camel handler Kerry Timmins and his camel, Boofa.
The show was aimed at promoting City of Greater Dandenong’s many restaurants and food supply businesses.
Hungry hordes chomped down on Scottish haggis, Turkish tulumba, New Orleans po’ boys and Afghan mantu steamed dumplings.
Masterchef judge Matt Preston also dropped by to check out the cuisines.
