DANDENONG High School students polished up their employment skills recently.
Year 10s, spread across five one-day workshops at the Comfort Inn in Dandenong, learnt about issues relating to the world of work through the Beacon Foundation’s Polish program.
Representatives from the not-for-profit provided information about work ethic, deportment, grooming, employers’ expectations, interviews, manners and etiquette.
The students also took part in a sit-down lunch with people from local businesses, to test out their new communication and dining skills and make valuable contacts.
They walked away with better communication skills, increased confidence and self-respect and a better understanding of employers’ expectations.
