Culture celebrated in Lunar New Year

Dandenong Market will usher in the Lunar New Year with a free, day-long celebration of Chinese arts and culture.
From 10am to 4pm on Sunday 29 January, there’ll be 12 new food trucks and stalls joining the market’s 29 permanent food traders, including Bundle Co, Rasa‐Lah Malaysian Food Truck, Flamin’ Skewers and Nepal Dining Room.
The day will also feature hip hop dancing, a Taekwondo demonstration from the Vietnamese Community in Australia Victorian Chapter, a performance of Indonesia’s Saman dance, a Chinese opera, and the dragon dance.
Chef Tim Hollands will run live cooking demonstrations from 11am to 2pm showcasing traditional Asian seafood dishes and a quick summer Vietnamese curry.
For children, there’ll be craft workshops and face painting.
Dandenong Market is at Clow and Cleeland streets in Dandenong.
