THE light is almost green for a new gokart track in Dandenong.
Council this week specially amended its planning scheme and granted a permit to the track’s developer.
The permit will allow for a motor racing track and its buildings to be constructed at 1153 Waterview Close, Dandenong South.
Council had to amend its planning scheme after learning the track fell in business zone three, which under its current planning scheme did not allow for gokart tracks to be built.
The amendment to the scheme must now be approved and gazetted by Planning Minister Rob Hulls.
Council planning and design manager Jody Bosman said the new track would be a tourist drawcard.
