A MAN has been treated for multiple injuries following an industrial accident at Dandenong South on Wednesday morning.
Paramedics were called to the Ordish Road factory just after 8.30am.
Intensive care paramedic Gary Robertson said when they arrived they found the man had been freed from underneath an hydraulic platform.
“We were told that the hydraulic fluid somehow came out of the structure, that released the pressure, and the platform dropped onto the man,” he said.
“Thankfully, quick thinking workers nearby got a forklift to remove the steel. It’s difficult to say just how heavy it was, but it would have to weigh about a tonne.”
The 50-year-old man had serious injuries to his upper spine, chest, abd-omen and pelvis and was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition.
