Man charged with baby kidnap

A 46-year-old man has been charged with stealing a car with a baby on board in Keysborough.

Greater Dandenong CIU detectives charged the Frankston man with kidnapping, car theft, commiting an indictable offence on bail and unlicensed driving.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 2 March.

Police allege a 2013 Toyota Rav4, which contained an 11-month-old baby boy, was stolen from Putt Grove on Tuesday 1 March about 2.10pm.

The unharmed baby was reunited with his family following a call from a member of the public, police say.

The baby and stolen vehicle were located in Cranbourne about 5.40pm.
