Entries are open for Greater Dandenong’s annual short film festival.
Short Cuts Film Festival last year attracted nearly 2000 entries from around the world, including Nepal, Iran, Romania and Latvia.
It’s also an opportunity for locals to tell the story.
Greater Dandenong mayor Roz Blades said the festival provided a fantastic opportunity to unearth new talent.
“The City of Greater Dandenong is gaining a strong reputation amongst film makers both as a film location and a place for emerging filmmakers to have their work celebrated.”
The categories are Open for professional filmmakers, Emerging for current or recent film graduates and Community/Student for primary and secondary students and people without professional filmmaking training.
More than $5000 in cash prizes are on offer.
This year’s festival will be curated by Richard Moore. It will screen at Drum Theatre on Saturday 5 October.
Shorter Cuts 2019, featuring short films by young filmmakers, will also screen at Drum Theatre on Sunday 6 October.
Submissions close on 2 July.
