STAFF at Wallarano Primary School have praised a thorough prep transition program for providing a tearfree first day of school.
Assistant principal Gail Doney said the school’s 64 new preps were content on their first day of school, and after one week had settled in.
Ms Doney said the preps had already been to the school five or six times since November last year as part of a transition program.
“The children are very comfortable with school,” she said.
“We had tears on the second day – a little boy who didn’t want to leave his mum – but there were lots of tears from parents.”
Students will be interviewed by their teachers to determine each individual’s literacy and numerical abilities.
