Cabinet is open

PREMIER Steve Bracks will lead a cabinet minister roadshow in April set to break down communication barriers between Greater Dandenong residents and the State Government.
Dandenong MP John Pandazopoulos, Lyndhurst MP Tim Holding and Waverley Province MP John Lenders are three local cabinet ministers who will play host to the Community Cabinet program when it arrives in the city on Wednesday, 26 April.
All three said the idea of the listening post was to fulfil the government’s promise of an ‘open government and to govern for all Victorians’.
Not only will residents have the opportunity to speak with the ministers in person about local issues, but there will also be a separate youth forum, a women’s round table, and an indigenous round table.
Mr Pandazopoulos said Greater Dandenong was a diverse region ‘and so the issues and challenges facing residents are accordingly diverse’.
A location has not yet been confirmed but Mr Pandazopoulos said the entire cabinet would meet with Greater Dandenong council in the morning before ministers dispersed around the city pursuing portfolio-related appointments, while later taking submissions and meeting with community groups and individuals, most likely at a community centre.
