Traders’ chance for awarding experience

BUSINESSES in central Dandenong are invited to take part in the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association’s (DRTA) 2005 retail awards.
The awards, now in their seventh year, recognise excellence amongst retailers in central Dandenong.
Association chairperson Roy Aspinall has called on all retailers to nominate themselves or others.
“These are an innovative range of awards that are open to all retailers within central Dandenong, whether they be members of the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association or not,” he said.
The awards fall into six categories. The categories are: Retailer with more than 10 employees, retailer with less than 10 employees, innovative retailer, retailer with excellent store design, and retailer that represents a culture.
The sixth award is the Central Dandenong Retailer of the Year, to be decided by a judging panel.
The winner will be an automatic entry in the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce Premier Regional Business Awards.
The 2004 winner of this award was Answers for Hair in the Dandenong Plaza.
Entry in the awards is free for Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association members and $70 for nonmembers.
Mr Aspinall said nonmembers that pay the nomination fee and complete an application form could become DRTA members at no additional cost.
All retailers in central Dandenong will receive an entry form complete with conditions of entry, criteria and judging details.
Entries close at 5pm on Friday, 4 November.
The winners will be announced at the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association annual general meeting and business awards dinner, to be held at the Dandenong Club, Heatherton Road, Dandenong on Tuesday, 29 November, from 6.30pm.
The threecourse dinner will cost $45 per person with drinks available at bar prices.
There are limited numbers and bookings close on Friday, November 18.
Bookings can be made by phoning Kaye Perrott on 9791 1541.
The City of Greater Dandenong is sponsoring the awards, and SignARama is providing special prizes for the winners.
