THE City of Greater Dandenong seems set to sell part of Spring Valley Reserve to the Khmer Buddhist Centre.
The centre plans to build a new temple and needs 900 square metres of reserve land for additional parking.
The council will put the matter to the community to determine whether the land is surplus to its needs before starting the statutory process to sell it.
Councillor Clare O’Neil said funds raised from the possible sale should be put towards improvements to the reserve.
“This land is already fenced off by the centre and it’s not in community use,” Cr O’Neil said
“The reserve is one of the best used dog parks in the municipality, so to spend the money on improving it would be a good outcome for the community.”
The Khmer Buddhist Centre is at 458462 Springvale Road.
