Bulls charge ahead

THE undefeated Noble Park Bulls have continued on their merry way with a comfortable 67-point victory over Donvale at Pat Wright Oval on Saturday.
Donvale started well and forced a tight first quarter, but the premiership favourites gradually got on top.
Noble Park coach Shane Burgmann expected Donvale’s initial onslaught.
“I expected a tough encounter; it was a big game for them,” he said.
“They were really good in the first quarter, but then we got on top.”
Donvale was still in the game at half-time, despite the Bulls recording a five-goal-to-three second term to go into the break with a 21-point lead.
Burgmann made several changes at half-time and it seemed to inspire his team.
“After half-time, I decided to get some numbers behind the ball and it seemed to work,” he said.
Noble Park kicked four goals to two in the third quarter and appeared to have the match under control, opening up a 34-point lead at three-quarter time.
On the back of Brent Williams’ match-winning eight goals – the majority of which came after half-time – the Bulls rammed home the advantage with a seven-goal-to-one final term.
Burgmann said it was a good win by the boys.
“It was a shaky start, but we did well,” he said.
Brent and Lloyd Williams were the best players for Noble Park, while Andrew Pettigrove and Sam Collie toiled hard for Donvale.
The win leaves Noble Park one game clear at the top of the ladder, but Donvale’s loss has them languishing outside the top four.
