Swinging into the swim of things

SUMMERSLAM will bring the funk back to Noble Park Swim Centre this month with a family pool party highlighted by the infamous ice-cream eating and pool-bombing competitions.
Summerslam will take place on Saturday 9 February between 1pm and 5pm and promises to be the most exiting way to beat the heat this summer.
Melbourne R&B act Phinesse will sing while local dance crews Destruct, X-static, and Funk-a-alicious add their funky flavoured moves to create a feel-good summer vibe. They will be joined by beatboxer MC Shazet, and Phaze DJs.
Greater Dandenong senior youth worker Nick Karlas said the day would include some outrageously exciting competitions.
“As in the past there will be plenty of competitions and leading the way will be the crowd favourite – the ice cream eat-a-thon,” Mr Karlas said.
“There will be challenging activities such as the singing, dance, pool bombing, and our new bubble mouth competition. There will be plenty of great prizes up for grabs.”
Children can enjoy the water inflatables, while all visitors can check out what is Melbourne’s biggest water slide. A barbecue will be available thanks to the South East Migrant Resource Centre and Centre for Multicultural Youth Issues.
Normal pool entry prices apply with adults $3.50 and child and concession entry $2.70.
For further information contact the YMCA Noble Park Swim Centre on 9546 7955 or Nick Karlas on 9771 6624. This is a fully supervised non-alcohol and non-drug event.
