Panthers not up to scratch

THE Dandenong Panthers went down by one agonising wicket in their Victorian Premier League match against Footscray-Edgewater at Shepley Oval on Saturday.
After setting the opposition a flimsy target of 214, the Panthers chances of victory increased significantly when Peter Siddle took his spot in the side having been released from Bushrangers duties.
But not even Siddle’s 3/85 could save the Panthers.
At 5/133, Footscray was still in charge, but when reduced to 8/185 the Panthers smelt an unlikely victory.
When Siddle removed Shane Jones for 41, the score was 9/207 and the visitors still needed eight runs for victory.
Unfortunately for Dandenong, the batting side kept its cool and patiently made the runs, blasting a four to finish the match at 9/217.
Paul Boraston finished with 1/9 off 10 overs and played a crucial role in keeping the match so close.
Dandenong travel to A.H. Butler Oval to take on Frankston-Peninsula in a one-day game this Sunday and will be keen to secure some important points.
