ONE man is dead and another received medical treatment after their own samurai sword was turned against them in a Noble Park home they had allegedly broken into.
Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 20yearold man at a house in Arnold Street about 12.30am.
Police media liaison office Senior Constable Wayne Wilson said two male intruders entered the house in what police said was an aggravated burglary at approximately 12.30am yesterday (Wednesday) and tied up a female occupant aged in her 20s.
A male occupant returned home soon after and was also tied up by the offenders.
However the man in his 30s was able get free.
“It looks like the offenders have come with a pistol and sword, and the man had the opportunity to get free and get hold of the sword.
“One offender has been killed, the second injured, with cuts to the hand and leg we believe.”
The dead man was aged in his 20s.
Sen Const Wilson said the second male offender fled the scene and was later arrested.
He said that no charges had been laid as of Wednesday afternoon.
“At this stage we have got to see the full circumstances,” he said.
Sen Const Wilson said police were still trying to find out why the men entered the home.
