Waterwise ways

KEYSBOROUGH residents exchanged their old showerheads for waterwise ones at Parkmore Shopping Centre last week.
Lyndhurst MP and Water Minister Tim Holding was on hand to meet and greet – and happily exchange showerheads – with Keysborough residents at Parkmore.
“As the local State Member of Parliament and as Minister for Water, I am keen to help residents in our area make their homes more water-efficient,” Mr Holding said.
“Replacing your old showerhead with a new, water-efficient model is an easy way of improving your home’s water efficiency.”
A water-efficient showerhead can save up to 13,500 litres of water per person annually and up to $60 off your water and energy bills.
“Under the Brumby Government’s Water Smart Gardens and Homes Rebate Scheme, Victorians can claim a rebate of up to $1000 on water saving products for the home or garden,” Mr Holding said.
Rebates are available for water saving products including rainwater tanks, grey water systems, dual flush toilets, water conservation home audits, and garden products.
“The Brumby Government has committed over $10 million to the rebate scheme to help Victorians conserve water and save money,” Mr Holding said.
“Local residents are to be congratulated for their fantastic water saving efforts.
“In 2007, Melburnians used 34 per cent less water than we did a decade ago. This significant achievement would not have been possible without residents changing our water use habits,” he said.
